Holidays to Secret Bay Dominica

Secret Bay is an all-villa resort on a clifftop promontory in Tibay, on the far north of Dominica near Portsmouth, where rainforest runs down to the Caribbean Sea. It holds Two MICHELIN Keys, belongs to Relais and Châteaux and is Green Globe certified. The website does not publish a board basis. It suits couples, families and friends who want privacy and nature.

There are 27 private villas in seven types, each with a plunge pool, a covered terrace and a dedicated villa host. Zabuco villas have one or two bedrooms and views of mountain peaks and sea, Ti-Fèy villas sit in the rainforest, and Ylang Ylang, Mapou and Honeymoon villas have one bedroom. Friends and Family Villas and Multi-Villa Estates sleep larger parties. Kitchens, a Sonos speaker and Apple TV are standard, and a funicular climbs 400 linear feet to the higher villas.

Kayaks, paddleboards and snorkel gear are ready for Tibay Beach, and Secret Beach can only be reached by kayak, paddleboard, swimming or skiff, with a sea cave to wade through. Night snorkelling, kayak fishing, cooking classes at Botanica and private concerts are all offered. The art gallery at Bwa Denn holds more than one hundred Caribbean and Latin American pieces. Children under twelve are welcome in one or two bedroom villas.

Every villa has its own plunge pool, and the resort adds the oceanfront Gwiyavyé lap pool and bar, set in an orchard of guava trees with floating platforms for sunbathing and drinks. Gommier Spa, a treehouse-style space above Tibay Beach, offers solo, couples and family treatments. Yoga and wellness classes run at the Bwa Mang pavilion over the Cario River, and the open-air fitness studio uses self-powered equipment.

Bwa Denn is the main kitchen, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner daily, with a tapas terrace, full bar and a microbrewery making kombucha. On Tuesdays and Fridays its rooftop hosts a no menu evening for those aged sixteen and over. Zing Zing seats just twenty for a six-course Discovery Menu, and Botanica offers an outdoor chef's table in the organic garden. You can also dine in your villa, by the pool or on the beach, or book a private chef.

Portsmouth is about ten minutes away by car, with its Saturday market and restaurants, and Cabrits National Park lies nearby. Guided hikes follow the Waitukubuli National Trail, the longest hiking route in the Caribbean, and the Indian River is close by. Douglas Charles Airport is about an hour's drive. The climate is warm year round, with cooling sea breezes, so pack repellent for rainforest walks.
