Ajman
Al Zorah Beach ResortTravel 07 Jun 2027
Ajman stays warm year-round, but winter and summer differ substantially. November to March is the most comfortable time to explore the waterfront, take walks, and spend time outdoors. Days are pleasantly warm, while evenings can feel noticeably cooler, particularly in January and February. Temperatures begin climbing through April and May, leading into the hottest period from June to September. Midday heat can be intense, making air-conditioned breaks more appealing. Conditions gradually ease in October, when outdoor plans become easier again. For gentler temperatures, consider visiting between late autumn and early spring each year.
You fly into Dubai Airport before travelling to Ajman. British passport holders can usually obtain a visa on arrival, while other travellers may need to apply in advance. Your passport must be valid for at least six months from your date of entry. Click here to check the latest visa requirements before departure.
November to March is generally the most comfortable time to visit, with warm days and cooler evenings suited to beaches and sightseeing. April and October can still be pleasant but warmer. From June to September, expect intense heat and humidity, particularly during the afternoon.
The United Arab Emirates dirham (AED) is the local currency. Most hotels, restaurants, and shopping centres accept major credit and debit cards. It is still useful to carry some dirhams for smaller shops, markets, taxis and occasional purchases where card payments may not be available.
Ajman is generally a relaxed destination, but no trip is entirely without risk. Check the latest UK Foreign Office travel advice before departure, particularly for any changes in regional security. Keep valuables secure, use licensed transport and respect local laws during your stay.
Most UK holidaymakers fly into Dubai International Airport, then continue to Ajman by prearranged transfer, taxi, or hire car. Within Ajman, taxis are convenient for short journeys, while public buses serve local and intercity routes. Walking along the Corniche is pleasant during cooler months.
Ajman is part of the UAE, where local customs reflect Islamic traditions. Dress modestly in shopping centres, markets, and religious settings, and keep swimwear for beaches and hotel pools. Avoid public displays of affection and be considerate of people fasting during Ramadan. Always respect local laws.

Soft sand and open horizons set the tone at Ajman Beach, beside the city centre Corniche. Take an early stroll before the waterfront cafés get busy, or settle in for an afternoon by the Arabian Gulf. Farther north, Al Zorah Beach offers a different setting, with the natural coastline close to mangroves and lagoons. Evenings are especially lovely when the light softens, and the shoreline takes on a warmer colour.
A day away from the sunlounger might begin with a guided kayak trip through Al Zorah Nature Reserve, where herons and flamingos frequent the waterways. At Al Zorah Golf Club, fairways wind beside the mangroves, providing a peaceful backdrop for your round. Watersports are another option along Ajman Beach, from paddleboarding to jet skiing. For scuba diving, look beyond Ajman to Al Boom Diving in Dubai or Divers Down in Fujairah, checking locations before booking.
Behind the modern waterfront, everyday life still carries traces of Ajman’s trading past. At the Ajman Dhow Yard beside the creek, traditional wooden boatbuilding still tells the story of long sea journeys. The eighteenth-century fort housing the Ajman Museum speaks to another chapter of local history. Browse the shaded lanes of Souq Saleh, then wander towards the fish market in Al Rashidiya, where the morning catch adds colour and conversation to the working waterfront.
Beyond the beachfront, Ajman takes on a different character. At Al Zorah Nature Reserve, north of the city, mangrove roots fringe tidal lagoons where flamingos and herons feed. A guided kayak outing lets you appreciate just how quiet these waterways can be. Far inland, the Masfout enclave rises into the rugged Hajar Mountains, where rocky trails and sweeping views replace the coastal sands. Pack comfortable walking shoes if you want to see this less familiar side of the emirate.
Some of Ajman’s most appealing coastal addresses let you enjoy the day at your own pace. The Oberoi Beach Resort, Al Zorah pairs sea-facing accommodation with private pool villas beside the nature reserve. At Ajman Saray, a Luxury Collection Resort, a traditional hammam and spa bring a more restorative note. Fairmont Ajman has its own stretch of beachfront, while Bahi Ajman Palace Hotel offers Arabesque interiors and a terrace overlooking the Arabian Gulf.
Food here has a pleasing sense of place. Begin with fragrant machboos, slow-cooked harees or a generous plate of freshly grilled fish, then finish with sweet luqaimat and strong Arabic coffee. Around Ajman Fish Market, seafood is part of daily life, with stalls close to the creek. Elsewhere, relaxed waterfront cafés sit alongside hotel restaurants serving Italian, Indian and other international favourites. Keep lunch simple and still make dinner a real occasion.
Plenty of space for two lines: Ajman’s quieter shoreline. Take a leisurely late-afternoon walk along the Corniche, watching the Gulf turn silver as the heat eases. Share a gentle guided kayaking excursion through the mangroves at Al Zorah Nature Reserve, or linger over dinner beside the water at Ajman Saray. For a change of scene, take an evening stroll around Ajman Marina to slow down and talk without rushing.
Family days can be wonderfully uncomplicated here. Start with building ambitious sandcastles on Ajman Beach, then let older children try suitable watersports along the Corniche. At Al Zorah Marina 1, open spaces and family attractions offer a change from the shoreline, while the UAE Pygmy Zoo introduces younger visitors to animals and birds. For a cooler afternoon, Ajman City Centre offers shops, dining, and indoor entertainment close to the sandy coast.
