Holidays to Six Senses Krabey Island
Six Senses Krabey Island sits on its own 30 acre island, about 15 minutes by boat from the Cambodian mainland and 3 miles off Ream National Park in the Gulf of Thailand. The resort has just 40 free standing pool villas set among the trees, so privacy is built into the stay. A board basis is not published, so check what your booking includes.
Eight villa types are published, from the one bedroom Ocean Pool Villa with sea views to the three bedroom Beach Retreat that sleeps eight. Hideaway villas look onto tropical forest, while Ocean and Oceanfront villas face the sea, and the Beach Retreats add a private beach cove. Each villa has a private plunge pool and sundeck, and most add a separate air conditioned living room. Two bedroom options suit families or friends travelling together.
The resort has a private sandy beach, an ocean boardwalk, a sky observatory and an island fitness circuit. Experiences include island hopping, a castaway picnic at Koh Ta Kiev, mangrove kayaking, plankton gazing at night and a guided wildlife walk. Khmer cooking classes are on offer too. Children can join the Nest Kids Club, and babysitting is available on request. No evening entertainment programme is published.
The main pool is a horizon edge pool beside the Double-Dip Hangout, and every villa has a private pool of its own. Six Senses Spa covers 2,000 square metres, takes inspiration from the Kbal Spean River and is open daily from 9am to 9pm. It has seven treatment rooms, a sauna, steam room, herbal steam tent and hot tub, with Khmer foot massage and herbal treatments. You can also use the fitness room, the outdoor yoga pavilion and the flying yoga studio.
There are two restaurants and a bar, as the resort describes it, although its dining page also lists a poolside ice cream parlour and in villa dining. AHA Restaurant serves international favourites and pan Asian dishes all day. Tree Restaurant serves Khmer and South East Asian cooking with a seafood speciality. Sunset Bar looks west over the Gulf of Thailand, and Double-Dip Hangout serves housemade gelato and sorbet.
Sihanouk International Airport is a 10 minute drive from the resort jetty, where a boat takes you across to the island. Phnom Penh is about two and a half hours away by road, and Siem Reap is a 55 minute flight from Sihanoukville. Ream National Park and Kbal Chhay Waterfalls are nearby, and the Ream Pagoda monk blessing is a cultural option. Cambodia has a tropical climate with wet and dry seasons, so you can visit all year.
