Alaya Resort Ubud stands on Jl. Hanoman, in the heart of Ubud and the cultural centre of Bali. It has 106 rooms among gardens, with Balinese touches throughout and a design that draws on the creative energy of the town. The resort's website publishes no star rating or board basis, so check what your chosen rate includes before you book. Galleries and local flavours lie just beyond the resort's edge, ready for you to explore.
Rooms come in three categories: Deluxe Room, Alaya Room and Suite. The first two measure 50 sqm and the Suite 106 sqm, with a separate seating area. All three overlook greenery or rice fields, and each has air conditioning, a minibar, coffee and tea making facilities and cable TV. The Alaya Room adds a semi open-air bathroom with a stone bathtub, and the Suite has a terrazzo bathtub. Some Alaya Rooms and Suites have connecting doors.
Yoga takes place in an open air bale, with group classes on Wednesday and Saturday, and DaLa Spa runs herbal tea and rice body scrub making classes. Cultural activities include canang sari offering making and Balinese paper doll and puppet doll workshops. The Joglo Pavilion, a restored 350 year old structure from Central Java, hosts weddings, private gatherings and romantic dinners. No kids club is published.
You have two pools to choose from. The main pool, designed by Grounds Kent Architects, has elegant curves and a bamboo bridge, while the second pool has clear water and rice field views. Bamboo Pool Bar serves juices, cocktails, beers and spirits beside the water. DaLa Spa offers six treatment rooms in a garden beside a river, and an air-conditioned gym has cardio machines and free weights.
Brasserie serves a semi-buffet breakfast from 7am to 10.30am, then an all day menu of Indonesian and international dishes, afternoon tea and cocktails, with live music from Thursday to Sunday. Bamboo Pool Bar is open from 10am to 7pm, and in-room dining is available. Just beyond the main hotel, Alaya Grounds gathers Pison Ubud, Rayjin, Chontea, Korte Chocolate, Pison No.2 and Pinkies Gelato. Board basis is not published.
Ubud Monkey Forest is 800 m away, the Ubud Traditional Art Market and Ubud Palace are 1.9 km, Campuhan Ridge Walk is 2.6 km and the Blanco Museum is 2.8 km. Ngurah Rai International Airport is 35 km away, and airport transfers and a paid shuttle in Ubud can be arranged through the resort. The website does not publish the climate.
