Savour grilled prawns, Balinese seafood salad and modern barbecue, sourced from Jimbaran's fish markets.
Jimbaran sits on the southwest coast of Bali, along a crescent of golden sand that runs for three miles, or 4.8 kilometres, around a calm bay. The resort describes itself as a Bali beach resort rooted in Balinese heritage, and Ngurah Rai International Airport is about 20 minutes away by car, with Seminyak nightlife 45 minutes off. You stay in one of 147 villas within a private courtyard of thatched pavilions behind stone walls.
Ten villa types are listed, from the Garden Pool Villa to the Imperial Pool Villa with three bedrooms. Each has indoor and outdoor living areas, gardens, a private pool and a sun terrace. Villas with one bedroom sleep two adults, the Family Pool Villa takes three adults or two adults and two children under 12, and villas with two bedrooms sleep six.
The beach suits ocean kayaks and TropicSurf programmes, while water sports, catamaran sailing and bodyboarding are complimentary. Family surfing lessons, a bonfire with marshmallows and babysitting are also listed. Yoga takes place in an oceanfront bale. Away from the resort, the Goa Gong cave temple, which dates to the ninth century, is a drive of 20 minutes, and the resort priest can arrange access.
The Healing Village Spa opens from 9:00 to 21:00 and offers massage, facials, body wraps, yoga and meditation, plus the Illume Room, where light, sound and colour are used for relaxation. A Longevity Garden overlooks tropical planting, and a Rossano Ferretti hair salon runs from 10:00 to 19:00. The fitness centre opens from 6:30 to 21:00 and there is a Pilates studio. Children can join the Umah Rare Kids Club. Premium Wi-Fi is complimentary.
The resort says it has four distinct dining experiences, yet its dining page also lists the Telu bar and In Villa Dining, so you should treat the count as a guide. Sundara serves modern barbecue on the beach and has a Sunday brunch. Taman Wantilan offers an Asian and Western buffet with show kitchens. Alu is a casual poolside cafe, Jala serves Balinese seafood at dinner, and Telu mixes sustainable cocktails from Wednesday to Sunday.
Dining can be made personal, with a Private Dinner by the Ocean, a Couples Romantic Gazebo Dinner, a Floating Breakfast, a Chef's Table and a Beach Family Barbecue, all bookable through the resort. Cultural moments include a Balinese blessing at the resort temple, traditional dance performances and artist workshops. Wedding packages and event spaces are not described on the pages reviewed, so ask before you book if a ceremony matters to you.
