Capella Bangkok is an intimate five-star hotel set on the banks of the Chao Phraya River in the city's Yannawa district, styled as a low-rise boutique pied-à-terre with only 101 suites and villas. Awarded Two MICHELIN Keys and named No. 2 in The World's 50 Best Hotels 2026, it pairs urban Bangkok with a quiet riverside sanctuary. The atmosphere is calm and residential rather than grand, suiting travellers who want privacy, design-led interiors and immersion in the city's Charoenkrung heritage.
The 101 suites and villas occupy a low-rise residential-style building overlooking the river or the hotel's pool, each with floor-to-ceiling windows and a private balcony. Categories range from Riverfront rooms at 61 sqm to spacious river-view suites and, for full privacy, riverfront villas with their own garden and jacuzzi plunge pool, including a two-bedroom Presidential Villa. Every stay is supported by a dedicated Capella Culturist, with in-room Nespresso coffee, Egyptian cotton linens and tablet-controlled technology throughout, while several suites and villas add a separate living room for entertaining or working.
Days can be shaped around the Living Room, where a Capella Culturist hosts daily cultural vignettes such as Thai flower garland weaving, Khon dance and traditional music, plus Moments of Mindfulness led by a temple monk. Children are welcomed into the Little Stars programme, with in-room teepees and robes alongside curated activities. Bicycle tours and boating along the Chao Phraya are also on offer, while Stella hosts live music performances from Wednesday to Sunday evenings by the water.
Wellbeing centres on Auriga Wellness, a riverside spa with seven treatment suites, including two for couples, alongside water therapy facilities, a steam room, sauna and a garden relaxation lounge. Treatments draw on Thai, Chinese, Indian and European traditions, from Tok Sen hammer massage to Biologique Recherche facials. An infinity pool holds a constant 28°C beside cabanas and sun loungers, while the 24-hour fitness centre offers Hatha Yoga, Anti-Gravity Yoga, Tai Chi and BOGAFiT classes, plus personal training sessions.
Dining spans five venues along the riverfront. Côte by Mauro Colagreco holds two MICHELIN stars for its Riviera-inspired menu, while Phra Nakhon serves authentic Thai cooking in a sun-washed garden conservatory. Stella pours Thai-inspired cocktails through the evening, Tea Lounge presents a Signature Afternoon Tea beside a lily pond, and Kin, the hotel's patisserie boutique, sells artisan breads and made-to-order cakes. In-room dining runs around the clock for those who prefer to eat within their own suite or villa.
Beyond the hotel, a complimentary shuttle boat reaches the shops and restaurants of IconSiam and Taksin Skytrain station in minutes. The surrounding Charoenkrung Road, Bangkok's first paved thoroughfare from 1861, forms the city's creative arts quarter, home to a 250-year-old temple and to Jay Fai, the Michelin-starred street food stall. Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang airports are both reachable by limousine transfer, with fast-track assistance arranged through the hotel.
