Tortuga Bay is a private enclave of thirty suites and villas within Puntacana Resort & Club, designed by the late Oscar de la Renta and drawing on his Dominican roots. Simple, sophisticated architecture in pale coral stone sits between the white sand beach and the fairways of La Cana Golf Course. Each residence has its own Embajador, a personal ambassador who arranges dining, tee times and excursions, so days run smoothly from arrival to departure.
Accommodation ranges from the Junior Suite to the Two Bedroom Suite, Three Bedroom Villa and Four Bedroom Villa, each available beachfront or with an ocean view. Interiors use locally sourced materials, with a kitchenette, a coralline stone bathroom with bathtub and Jacuzzi, and an oak walk-in closet. Balconies look over the golf course and the sea, and the larger villas add a separate living room.
Forty-five holes of oceanside championship golf are available across the Corales and La Cana courses, while the Oscar de la Renta Tennis Center has ten tennis courts, four padel courts, two pickleball courts and a Technogym. The Spa offers massage, sauna, steam bath and a pool. On the water, snorkelling, kayaking and paddleboarding are on offer, and the Ojos Indigenas Ecological Reserve opens up 1,500 acres of subtropical forest to explore. Segway tours, wreck diving, helicopter tours, horseback riding and sunset cruises can be arranged.
Facilities include a swimming pool, an outdoor Jacuzzi and a stretch of beach reserved for residents of Tortuga Bay. A fitness centre, kayaks and bicycles are on hand, and electric golf carts make it easy to move around the resort. Access extends to La Cana Golf & Beach Club, the Corales Golf Course and The Spa. The Silvia Tcherassi boutique sits among the villas, inside a pale coral stone building inspired by Mount Vernon.
Bamboo, beside the lounge, serves Mediterranean-influenced fusion dishes from breakfast through to dinner in a graceful room designed by Oscar de la Renta. La Yola is built to resemble a fishing boat in the Puntacana Resort Marina, with Mediterranean cooking, fresh seafood and turquoise views. Tortuga Bay Lounge is known for hand-rolled cigars and fine spirits. Bao and Brassa, across the wider resort, add Asian and steakhouse dining, and in-room dining runs around the clock.
Puntacana Resort & Club offers several settings for weddings and celebrations, including ceremonies facing the Caribbean Sea, with the dedicated events team helping to shape each occasion. A private enclave of villas also works well for milestone birthdays, anniversaries and family gatherings, with the larger villas offering room for groups to stay together under one roof.
