Holidays to Ancient Hue Garden House
Ancient Hue Garden Houses sits within the historic village of Kim Long, close to the bend of the Perfume River in Hue. The setting is the local community of Phú Mộng, and Kim Long was once a residence of Nguyen dynasty kings. Garden houses and French villas stand in landscaped grounds, which suits couples and families wanting a quiet base with character, with the Imperial City around one kilometre away.
Each house has its own theme. Trường Tiền House has a double room and a twin room, each with a private terrace and bathroom. Vọng Cảnh House has two double bedrooms plus a single room, suiting families of up to five, with views over a landscaped garden. Ngự Bình House is a one bedroom house inspired by The Tale of Kiều. Gustave Eiffel Villa and Marguerite Duras Villa bring art deco furniture and French inspired design, with private terraces. Air conditioning, a minibar, a safe and an LCD screen feature throughout.
Activities are rooted in Hue's culture and craft. You can try on royal costumes and walk through a park with a wooden bridge over a pond, learn to make a traditional Vietnamese straw hat on a Lavin home visit, or join a walking tour of a craft village. A cooking class, market to table tours and sunset strolls along the Perfume River are also available.
The outdoor saltwater pool sits at the centre of the grounds, placed there according to Feng Shui principles. Lush foliage and traditional Hue garden pavilions surround it, with lounge chairs and umbrellas on sandstone decking. Phú Xuân Spa blends traditional Vietnamese healing with the garden setting. It has four treatment rooms, private massage rooms, a steam room and a sauna, and its therapies include hot stone treatment, acupressure and cupping.
Dining ranges from Vietnamese royal style to French cuisine with Hue influences. Kim Long Fine Dining has served Vietnamese food since 2006, including family style claypot rice. Le Soleil de Huế, in the French villa, offers a menu created by a Michelin starred French chef based in Ho Chi Minh City. Phú Mộng Private and Royal Dining is themed on the Nguyen dynasty court, while La Lune is a private, romantic setting for two. Vạn Xuân Bar serves wine and cocktails infused with Hue flavours, including Imperial Tea.
The Imperial City is around one kilometre away, the Heavenly Lady Pagoda about one and a half kilometres, and the city centre about two kilometres. The Imperial Citadel has moss covered ramparts and golden tiled roofs from the Nguyen era, and the royal tombs of Gia Long, Minh Mang and Khai Dinh lie beyond. Dragon boats on the Perfume River carry Ca Huế performances. Private airport transfers can be requested.
