Sandals Caribbean Cay is a five star adults only resort on the shoreline at Montego Bay, ten minutes from Sangster International Airport. Everything is all inclusive, from meals and premium spirits to the water sports, so the day costs you nothing beyond what you booked. The resort reopens on 18 December 2026 after a full reimagining, and it suits couples who want a beach, an offshore island and no schedule to keep.

Twenty eight room categories run across three levels, Sandals Luxury, Club Sandals and Butler Elite. Over the Water Villas and Bungalows stand on stilts beyond the private island, and Swim Up Suites open straight onto a lagoon pool. Others include Walkout Suites, Skypool Suites and One Bedroom Suites, with views taking in beachfront, oceanfront, pool or tropical garden. Higher categories add a tranquility soaking tub, a private pool and a butler.

PADI certified scuba diving runs from the resort, with equipment and instruction provided. Kayaks, Hobie Cats, sailboats, paddleboards, snorkelling and tubing all launch from the sand, and waterskiing is a short transfer away at Sandals Montego Bay. On land there is tennis, beach volleyball, basketball, shuffleboard, croquet, lawn chess, table tennis and pool tables. Evenings turn to beach parties, reggae afternoons and a nightclub.

The resort has a redesigned main pool, larger and more open than the one it replaces, with an adults only stretch and poolside bar service. Out on Sandals Island, a Tahitian style pool comes with its own swim up bar. Red Lane Spa handles the treatments, including West Indian massage and body exfoliation with island sand, and will bring a therapist to the beach or to the island itself. A fitness centre carries Life Fitness equipment and runs group classes.

Nine restaurants sit within the resort, and dining rights extend to nine more at Sandals Montego Bay next door. Spices handles traditional island dishes, Royal Thai works the aromatic curries of the Far East from its perch on the private island, Le Jardiniere takes the French line and Cricketers pours British pub favourites. Suppa is the newest of them, built around Jamaican flavours. Robert Mondavi Twin Oaks wines and Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee come as standard.

Sandals Island lies a couple of minutes offshore by boat and holds a private beach, a jerk shack and Parisol Beach Club, a new open air venue built for spending the whole day out there. On the mainland, Montego Bay is close enough for an afternoon, and Island Routes runs local tours across Jamaica that range from the exhilarating to the gently paced. An exchange bureau and a registered nurse sit on site.
