Las Ventanas al Paraíso, A Rosewood Resort, sits at Kilometre 19.5 of the Transpeninsular highway near San José del Cabo, where a striking desert landscape meets both the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortez. Mexican architecture shapes the suites and villas, with hand carving, intricate tiling and adobe fireplaces. Pools, a spa, restaurants and bars all sit within the resort.
Accommodation is made up of junior suites, villas and signature villas rather than standard rooms. Junior suites open onto a private patio or rooftop terrace, and the Oceanview Rooftop Terrace Junior Suite adds a private Jacuzzi and a telescope for stargazing and whale watching. One bedroom villas add a private infinity pool, a large living room and outdoor dining. The Ty Warner Mansion covers 28,000 square feet with a private chef. The Oceanfront Junior Suite is not suitable for children under 16.
Days can be as active as you like, with deep sea fishing led by a local captain, snorkelling, desert UTV rides, horseback riding at sunset and whale watching arranged through the resort. Golf is played at Palmilla Golf Club, a Jack Nicklaus design, and tennis is also listed. Families can join Rosewood Explorers for art, culinary moments and outdoor adventures for all ages. Evenings bring beach dinners with outdoor cinema until ten, and the Barbacoa Experience pairs underground cooked lamb with mezcal.
Eight pools give you room to swim, from beachfront infinity pools to a lazy river and swim up bars, while beachside cabanas come with private plunge pools and Jacuzzis. The Spa follows the Four Elements menu, inspired by ancient Baja healers, with treatments such as the Four Hands Mezcal Massage and couples rituals. Sauna, steam rooms, hot and cold plunge pools and relaxation lounges sit alongside The Salon, a fitness centre and yoga and Pilates studios.
Six restaurants and bars share the resort. Arbol serves coastal cuisine with Asian and Indian influences and is recognised by Michelin, while Alebrije offers handcrafted Italian dishes by the sea. Sea Grill focuses on the daily grilled catch, ceviche and shellfish. Tequila and Ceviche Bar pairs ceviche and Mexican and Japanese sushi with tequila, La Cava is a wine cellar for private dining and La Botica is a speakeasy bar inspired by the 1920s. Tables at Arbol, Alebrije and Sea Grill are reserved ahead through SevenRooms, and 24 hour room service is listed for the suites.
The resort is about a 20 minute drive from San José del Cabo International Airport. In San José del Cabo, Mission San José del Cabo was founded in 1730 and stands near boutique lined streets, and Cabo San Lucas offers nightlife for an evening out. A five day Black and Blue Marlin Tournament is held every year at the marina, and desert trails and Sea of Cortez excursions start from the resort itself.
