Marquis Los Cabos Resort and Spa is an adults only, all inclusive retreat for ages eighteen and over, found at Kilometre 21.5 of the Transpeninsular highway in the Cabo Real area near San José del Cabo. It opened in 2003, holds an AAA Four Diamond rating and belongs to Leading Hotels of the World. The setting suits couples and friends who want a grown up escape on the Sea of Cortez.

There are 209 hotel suites, 25 Casitas and five Master Suites, and the resort describes every one as facing the ocean. Junior Suites come with Ocean View, Ocean Front or Eden View settings and either a king bed or two doubles. Casitas add a private plunge pool and a terrace or rooftop sundeck, while the Master Suite has a plunge pool terrace and double height ceilings. The Presidential Suite has two bedrooms, panoramic terraces and a wet bar on the top floor.

Days can be as busy or as slow as you like, with archery, beach volleyball, table tennis, aquarobics, dance lessons and tequila and mixology tastings among the activities. Evenings bring live entertainment, from mariachi and a fire show at the Central Pool to Casino Night and a circus show in the lobby. Golf can be arranged on Cabo Real, Puerto Los Cabos and Club Campestre de San José, and tours head to Todos Santos and Isla Espíritu Santo.

Two infinity pools and a central pool are open from 8am to 8pm, and because the waves in front of the resort are strong, swimmers walk about seven minutes to a calmer beach. Spa Marquis covers 13,000 square feet with a hydrotherapy circuit, hot tubs, a steam room, massage cabins and a beauty salon using Natura Bissé products. Spa and salon services are charged separately, while the fitness area and the tennis and pickleball court are included.

Eight venues cover the day. Sakke serves Asian teppanyaki, Pergola bakes Mediterranean pizzas in a stone oven, Canto del Mar offers a seven course French dinner led by the Executive Chef, and Dos Mares is the poolside seafood spot. Vista Ballenas serves international Mexican meals, Suspiro Bar has sunset views, Espresso Cappuccino handles coffee and pastries, and in suite dining runs around the clock. Sakke, Pergola and Canto del Mar take reservations.

The resort sits about 15 minutes by road from San José del Cabo and about 20 minutes from Cabo San Lucas, with the airport roughly 35 minutes away. Palmilla, Chileno and Santa María beaches, all good for swimming, are close by. The weather is pleasant all year with cooler evenings, and whale watching runs from December to April.
