Nobu Hotel Los Cabos stands on the Pacific coastline of Baja California Sur, inside the gated Diamante community near Cabo San Lucas. It holds a Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star award, and the Japanese spirit of omotenashi shapes the service. Los Cabos International Airport is 34 miles (55 km) away, about 45 minutes by car. The setting is tucked away from town, which suits couples, families and friends who want food, pools and unhurried days.
Sixteen accommodation types range from Deluxe Rooms to the Kogane Penthouse. Ten are rooms and suites, including Deluxe Swim-Up rooms with direct pool access, private pool options and the ocean view Zen, Sake and Miyabi Suites. The other six are Nobu Residences, such as Hikari and Asahi, with the penthouse sleeping up to 14. Rooms have a Nobu signature bed, a rainfall shower, an Onsen teak soaking tub and a 65-inch TV.
Days can be active or slow. Beach volleyball, sunset beach walks, water fitness classes and a pickleball court are on offer, and the fitness studio runs classes from boot camp to Pilates and yoga. KIZZU Kids Club welcomes children aged 4 to 12 daily from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm with painting, crafts and games. The concierge arranges ziplining, desert ATV rides, snorkelling cruises and, from January to March, whale watching.
Four pools give you a choice of settings: the Pacific Pool, the Cortez Pool, the Cortez Swim-up Bar Pool and the adults only Infinity Pool, open from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm with Pacific and sunset views. Cabanas can be booked in advance. Esencia Wellness Spa sits oceanside with 13 private treatment rooms and an outdoor hydrotherapy garden, which adds a full water circuit, steam and sauna facilities. The fitness centre is open 24 hours.
Nine venues cover the day. Nobu Los Cabos serves Japanese-Peruvian dishes with Mexican influences oceanfront from 5:00 pm, while open air Pacific Restaurant pairs contemporary Mexican lunches with mezcal. Steakhouse cooks dry-aged cuts over wood fire, and Muna Restaurant offers Mediterranean-inspired fine dining. Nami Champagne Bar runs a beachfront Nikkei lunch, Playabar serves tacos and sushi beside the Cortez Pool, and MBar turns from sunset lounge to nightlife until 1:00 am. In-room dining runs 24 hours.
Cabo San Lucas is a short drive away for nightlife and shopping, with its marina, El Médano Beach, Land's End and the Arch within reach. Boat tours call at Lover's Beach and a sea lion colony, and Plaza Mijares in San José del Cabo has restaurants, shops and historic buildings. The Oasis Short Course, a 12-hole Tiger Woods design, lies within Diamante. Ocean conditions can be unsafe for swimming, so the pools take care of that.
