NH Collection Maldives Havodda Resort is a private island in the Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll, in the deep south of the Maldives. The island is shaped like a seashell, with a lagoon around it, and it suits honeymoons, family stays and diving holidays. Breakfast and dinner, and an all inclusive plan, are both published as offers, so check which board basis your booking carries.

Seven villa types are published. Beach villas measure from 95 sqm and open straight onto the sand, and the pool versions add a plunge pool. Over Water Villas offer direct lagoon access, and the Over Water Pool Suite adds a separate living room and a plunge pool above the lagoon. Most villas have an al fresco sunken tub and ocean views, and you can choose a west facing villa for sunsets.

Snorkellers and divers can explore the house reef, and the lagoon is described as calm and clear. A dive center, water sports and a see through kayak are available, along with sailing trips and dolphin safaris. On land you can play tennis, futsal or basketball on the multipurpose court. The kids club offers painting, weaving and Maldivian tales, and babysitting is available. Evening entertainment is not described in detail.

The main pool sits at the tip of the island, with poolside cocktails and Pizza Kaage close by. The spa has four treatment villas, two treatment suites and a covered garden, and it is open daily from 10am to 8pm. Signature treatments include the coconut based Maldivian Delight and a bamboo massage, and wellness and Ayurveda programmes run for three days or more. The fitness center has cardio machines and weight stations.

Five venues are listed, three restaurants and two bars, plus in villa dining around the clock. Reef is the main restaurant and serves international dishes from breakfast to dinner. Surf is an island style steakhouse open for dinner on Tuesdays and Saturdays, and Pizza Kaage serves Italian pizza poolside. Thari Bar is open from 10am to midnight, and Iru Bar opens from 5pm to 7pm for sunset cocktails.

The journey is part of the experience. You fly for one hour from Male International Airport to Kaadedhdhoo Airport on Maldivian Airlines, then take a 15 minute speedboat transfer that is complimentary. The island is in the deep south of the Maldives, so the transfer is part of the stay. Island hopping and sailing trips let you see local island culture. No climate information is published.
