La Veranda Resort Phu Quoc stands on Duong Dong Beach on Tran Hung Dao Street, with the Gulf of Thailand in front and tropical gardens around it. Founded in 2006, the resort takes its inspiration from a 1920s French mansion, with high ceilings, antique fans, polished wood interiors and period collectables. Garden and sea settings give you a choice of room, and connecting rooms are available for families and groups.

Eight room types are published, from Deluxe Garden and Premier Garden rooms to Premier Ocean, Memorable Premier Ocean, the Ocean Suite, the Garden Suite, Classic Villa Garden and La Veranda Ocean Villa. Each sleeps three, with a private terrace or balcony in most categories, satellite television, complimentary Wi-Fi and organic products. Room service caters for dietary needs, and a lion claw bathtub with a sea view is the signature of Memorable Premier Ocean.

Beach yoga each morning sets an easy pace, while cooking classes let you explore local markets and the organic garden before preparing traditional dishes. The fitness centre is available when you want a workout, and children are welcomed with a range of amenities and activities. Pets are allowed in designated areas of the resort. Meeting rooms with natural light and a wedding venue are also available.

A salt-water pool gives you a place to swim within the gardens, and the fitness centre offers personalised training. Yoga is held on the beach every day. TĨNH Wellness Sanctuary is the resort spa, drawing on Red Dao healing traditions for its treatments, and a wellness experience for two is also offered. Cooking classes visit local markets and the organic garden to craft traditional dishes.

The resort has two restaurants and a lounge bar. The Pepper Tree serves innovative Pacific Rim cuisine with ocean views and sunsets, and a buffet breakfast from 09:00 to 10:15. Le Jardin sits on the lawn in front of the Main House, offering simple, healthy, hearty meals beneath the palms. Le Bar serves light refreshments, ice cream and cocktails every day. Raw Herring Salad is a signature dish that reflects the island's culinary heritage, and the kitchens work with local farmers.

Duong Dong Beach is on your doorstep, and Sao Beach, with powdery white sand and turquoise water, is 30 minutes away by car. Suoi Thanh Waterfall suits picnics and nature walks among caves and greenery. The Phu Quoc Prison Museum shows the island's wartime heritage, while Vinpearl Land offers an aquarium, amusement rides and water shows for families.
