Holidays to Royal Angkor Resort & Spa

Royal Angkor Resort is an authentic five star hotel on Highway No. 6 in Siem Reap, designed in a Khmer classical style that takes its cue from early 20th century Khmer architecture. It has 198 guest rooms, plus two Executive Bungalows and two Presidential Villas, so the scale suits couples, families and groups who want a full-service base. A shuttle service runs every two hours, and airport pick-up is offered.

Rooms come in five categories. The 119 Superior Rooms have garden views, handmade furniture, a bathtub with a separate shower and a seating area with a sofa. The 66 Deluxe Rooms add a private balcony overlooking either the garden and pool or the Cambodian Cultural Village. The 12 Sakura Rooms are Japanese-inspired, and the two Executive Bungalows have private balconies and Nordic-style interiors. The two bedroom Presidential Villas have a kitchen, living and dining areas and an in-villa spa. Connecting rooms are available for families.

Evening entertainment comes in the form of Apsara shows at Royal Theater, while the day can begin in the fitness centre or beside the pool. A tour desk and concierge are on hand, and the shuttle service runs every two hours. Families can ask for connecting rooms, and two meeting rooms, Prasat I and Prasat II, serve groups who combine business with a stay. The resort does not publish a kids club, so check with Odysseys if that matters to you.

The resort has a swimming pool with a poolside area, a pool bar and a poolside private dining option, so a day by the water can run into the evening without moving far. The Royal Spa offers massage treatments, including Aroma Oil Massage, Traditional Khmer Massage and the 4 Hand Massage, each listed at 60 minutes. The in-house spa also includes a sauna, steam rooms and a Jacuzzi, and a fitness centre is available too.

The dining page names a café, a lounge and a bar. Garden Café has indoor and outdoor seating, with afternoon tea, smoothies and snacks alongside signature dishes and monthly chef creations. Temple Lounge offers a blend of dishes inspired by what the Royal family eat inside the palace, and the bar pours cocktails, beer and wine at sunset hour. A buffet breakfast is served in the resort restaurant, and the pool bar suits an afternoon by the water.

The resort stands on Highway No. 6 at Phum Kasekam in Siem Reap, and its Deluxe Rooms look out over the Cambodian Cultural Village. The resort does not publish distances to Angkor Wat, the airport or the town centre, so ask Odysseys for current travel times when you book. Airport pick-up is offered, a 24-hour medical professional is on call, and TripAdvisor recognised the resort with an award in 2018.
