Sarai Resort and Spa is a Moroccan-inspired hotel in Siem Reap, set in Wat Damnak Village. The design draws on Angkor Wat, with the idea of bringing you closer to the stars. Breakfast is complimentary, and a front desk open around the clock helps from check-in at 14:00 to check-out at 12:00. It suits couples and families who want a base close to town and the temples.
Sarai has five room categories, running from the Gold Chamber King to the Presidential Pool Suite. Every room has Wi-Fi and a bay window over the pool. The Emerald Chamber Deluxe adds a spacious living room, while the Terrace Suite has a double-height ceiling and a private mezzanine living area. The Family Terrace Suite adds a terrace and a swing, and the Presidential Pool Suite has a personal swimming pool. Wander by Sarai, shown on the same website, offers eight further categories, among them suites with private pools.
Activities centre on Siem Reap itself. The local activities listed include a tour of the ancient temples, Phare, The Cambodian Circus, Kulen Elephant Forest, quad biking, the Kampong Pluk community floating village and Apsara Theatre. Cooking classes focus on Cambodian cuisine, and the fitness centre is free to use. A souvenir shop and a conference room are on site. The resort publishes no kids club, evening entertainment or water sports of its own.
Two pools shape the days here. A Moroccan-style saltwater pool cools the courtyard at the heart of the hotel, while the rooftop infinity pool looks across the city and suits an early swim at sunrise. Season Spa by Sarai is open from 10:00 to 22:00 and offers seasonal rituals named for winter, autumn, summer and spring, an organic rose and cacao scrub and a pink Himalayan salt scrub. A complimentary 30 minute massage comes with your stay and can be extended to a full hour, and the fitness centre is free to use.
Goat Tree Garden Restaurant is the resort's restaurant, serving Southeast Asian cuisine alongside Khmer and Western dishes, indoors or in the Fountain Courtyard. Breakfast runs from 06:00 to 10:00 and includes vegan and halal choices, lunch from 12:00 to 14:30, and dinner starts at 18:00. Room service comes from the restaurant menu, and there is a pool menu and a drinks menu. Afternoon high tea and Cambodian cooking classes are also available. The resort publishes no separately named bar.
Old Market, Night Market and Pub Street are 800 metres away, so evenings out in Siem Reap are close at hand. Angkor Wat, the UNESCO site, is 7 kilometres from the hotel, and an airport pick-up service takes care of arrival. The resort also runs an environmental education and zero waste centre called Earth Lab, makes its own drinking water on site and works with local artisans, farmers and suppliers. No airport distance or climate information is published.
