Andaz Singapore - A Concept by Hyatt

Andaz Singapore stands on Fraser Street at the meeting point of Kampong Glam, Little India and Bras Basah Bugis, three of the oldest quarters in the city. The hotel takes its character from that setting, with interiors by Andre Fu drawing on the shophouses of the surrounding streets. It suits travellers who want a city base within walking distance of heritage lanes, independent shops and bars, and it works equally well for meetings and private events. Check-in is from 15:00.

There are 347 rooms, 27 of them suites, all designed by Andre Fu in warm russet and mustard tones. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame city, heritage or sea views depending on the room, and every room carries a minibar stocked with locally sourced snacks, a Nespresso machine, individual climate control and a walk-in rain shower. Suites add walk-in closets, separate living areas and freestanding tubs, and the largest run to a den, a study or a kitchenette.

Mr. Stork occupies the rooftop on level 39, an alfresco bar with ten teepee huts and 360-degree views over the city, open from 17:00 and running to 01:00 on Friday and Saturday. Bar Square holds a happy hour each afternoon. The fitness centre is open around the clock, and the hotel runs private events and meetings through its own spaces. Poolside dining is served beside the water.

The infinity pool looks out over the Singapore skyline and is reserved for in-house residents, open daily from 08:00 to 22:00, with sun loungers and pool towels to hand. The fitness centre runs 24 hours and holds cardio machines and free weights, set against the same skyline view. The Sunroom serves coffee, tea, Andaz Iced Tea and light refreshments through the day, and changing rooms sit beside the fitness floor.

Five venues and in-room dining cover the day. Alley on 25 is the all-day restaurant, built to recreate Singapore street dining in the sky. Wu Yue Ting on the same floor serves refined Cantonese cooking with two private dining suites, while 665 degrees Fahrenheit on level 38 is the steakhouse, with The Cellar overlooking Marina Bay and a list spanning Old and New World wines. Bar Square, the communal bar, mixes Asian-inspired cocktails with local infusions.

The surrounding streets reward walking. ATLAS, an art deco bar holding more than 250 Champagnes and 1,000 gins, is 0.73 kilometres away, and Blu Jaz Cafe on Bali Lane stages live jazz and funk 1.3 kilometres off. Objectifs, a visual arts centre, sits about a kilometre from the hotel, with Haji Lane, Arab Street and Bussorah Street the same distance for coffee, shopping and food. Changi Airport lies 18 kilometres away.
