Walk to the Singapore Botanic Gardens and both ends of Orchard Road from Cuscaden Road.
Swim 43 metres above the courtyard, with a clear acrylic oculus set into the deck.
Unwind through vitality thermal pools, an ice fountain, a sauna and a steam room.
Step past the signature spiral staircase into 204 rooms shaped by Ian Schrager.
The Singapore EDITION holds a five star rating and sits on Cuscaden Road, at the upper end of the Orchard Road shopping district. Ian Schrager shaped the interiors, and the result is a lifestyle hotel rather than a formal one: a signature spiral staircase, planted terraces and a pink lit bar off the lobby. It suits you if you want the city close at hand but the pace unhurried. Bed and breakfast rates are offered alongside room only.
There are 204 rooms, suites and one penthouse, all with the same modern detailing and most with a living or sitting area. Expect a minibar stocked with snacks and spirits sourced across Singapore, Le Labo Black Tea bathroom products made for EDITION, a separate bathtub and shower, and water in carton bottles rather than plastic. Views are given as urban, garden or city depending on the category, and the 200 square metre EDITION Penthouse adds a private garden terrace with its own pool.
Swimming and the gym aside, the wellness residency programme brings in yoga, meditation and sound baths while you are in the hotel. The Spa menu covers the EDITION Signature Massage, which uses Le Labo Black Tea oils, Cellcosmet facials and a full Hydrafacial. On the events side, an 81 square metre boardroom sits next to a 600 square metre pillarless ballroom that divides into three Studios and seats up to 340.
A 43 metre rooftop pool runs the length of the upper floor, reached through The ROOF, with day beds along the water and a clear acrylic oculus set into the deck that looks down on the garden courtyard. The Spa occupies the second floor and holds seven treatment rooms including a couple suite, plus his and hers changing suites with vitality thermal pools, an ice fountain, sauna, steam room and a relaxation lounge. The gym runs around the clock on Technogym equipment.
Tanica is the signature restaurant, a lofty room where regional herbs and spices meet the Josper grill and the wok, served at a shared table. The ROOF sits above Cuscaden Road with juices and light bites from daylight into the evening. Lobby Bar pours beneath a canopy of greenery and serves afternoon tea from Wednesday to Sunday, Punch Room works through rare spirits, and Wonder Room turns nightclub at the end of the week. Room service runs around the clock.
The Singapore Botanic Gardens, the city's only UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a short walk away, and the National Orchid Garden inside it holds over 3,000 varieties. Shopping runs in both directions along Orchard Road, polished flagships one way and older complexes the other. Emerald Hill's Chinese Baroque shophouses and the gates of the Istana are close by, and Seletar Airport is about 18 kilometres from the door.
