The St. Regis Singapore stands at 29 Tanglin Road, where the Orchard Road shopping belt meets the embassy district and the Singapore Botanic Gardens, the city's first UNESCO World Heritage Site. The building has come through a full renovation, and its 299 rooms and suites now take their cues from the gardens across the road. Marina Bay, Gardens by the Bay and Dempsey Hill are all within easy reach of the door.
All 299 rooms and suites were rebuilt in the renovation, running from 52 square metres in the Astor Room to 335 in the Presidential Suite. Expect a king or two double beds, a study desk, a 65 inch television, a Bluetooth sound bar and a marble bathroom with double vanities, a separate bathtub and a standing shower. A St. Regis butler comes with every stay, whatever the room.
The St. Regis Spa takes its cue from the original Iridium Room in New York, with five treatment rooms, a couple suite and two rooms given over to manicures and pedicures. The wet lounge has heated wave loungers, indoor and outdoor jacuzzis, cedarwood Finnish saunas and eucalyptus steam chambers. Caroline's Collection runs to five signature treatments, and nail work is done with Margaret Dabbs London products.
You will find seven restaurants and bars, an outdoor pool, a fitness centre and the St. Regis Spa, along with a business centre, ten event rooms and 1,331 square metres of meeting space. Concierge, laundry, dry cleaning, ironing, currency exchange, baggage storage and a shoeshine service run through the day, wireless internet is included, and both valet and self parking are available on site.
Sophia serves Italian cooking from eleven regions in a dining room built like a glasshouse. Yan Ting is the Cantonese kitchen, recommended by the MICHELIN Guide, and Tentsuru works with produce flown in from Japan. Shinji By Kanesaka, a partner restaurant, handles sushi. The Tea Room pours afternoon tea with unlimited scones, the Patisserie sells cakes to take away, and The St. Regis Bar mixes cocktails behind a speakeasy door.
The John Jacob Ballroom came out of the renovation pillarless and fitted with two LED walls measuring 9.6 metres by 5.29 metres, seating up to 400 for a gala dinner. Caroline's Mansion sits beside the hotel with its own driveway and private entrance, suited to smaller parties. Five meeting rooms on Level One take up to 100 people, and the pre event foyer now holds a built in bar for receptions.
